Connect, Create, and Innovate with MOKA & The Diatribe this September!

MOKA is teaming up with The Diatribe to offer a free, virtual creative writing workshop – open to anyone in West Michigan that benefits from direct support (or the support of the Direct Care Workforce and/or Direct Support Professionals).

PARTICIPANTS WILL:

  • Harness the power of poetry to explore and express emotions
  • Engage with The Diatribe’s renowned Teaching Artists
  • Enjoy time with other community members interested in the arts
  • Learn how to use accessible technology (Apple iPad) to craft & share stories
  • AND be gifted the iPad to continue their creative journey and work with accessible technology after the course has ended!

This course will run twice weekly, in a virtual format, with an optional in-person kick off and showcase finale. There is no fee associated with this course, thanks to a grant awarded by MSU IMPART Alliance from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services using American Rescue Plan Act/Home and Community Based Services Spending Plan funds. Training on use of the tablets, as well as ongoing support throughout the course, will be provided by Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC).

Act fast! To ensure everyone is given quality time with the Teaching Artists, there are only 10 open seats in this course. Please email MOKA’s Development Director, Samantha Brigham, at sbrigham@moka.org to enroll.  Enrollment will be accepted on a rolling basis until September 2, 2024.
